Kao Feng-han (1683-1748), Ch'ing Dynasty
Kao Feng-han, a native of Shantung province, was a scholar-official and an artist. His literary talents, for example, were recognized at an early age. He also excelled at calligraphy and painting, especially flowers in an untrammeled manner. He also enjoyed collecting ink stones and was a capable seal carver. Late in life, however, he was stricken by a partial paralysis. From that time on, he used his left hand to paint and write, resulting in an even more unique appearance to his art.
