The Journey of the Conquest
Nkisi Project is pleased to present an exhibition by Carlos Rodriguez Cardenas. This show features a select group of pieces brought together by curator Bernardo Navarro in collaboration with Jose Bedia. The recent works of Carlos Rodriguez Cardenas has focused increasingly upon the relation between the individual and urban landscapes. His latest series filters architecture through the natural change of the seasons, creating landscapes that reflect the way in which humans travel and transform themselves through space and time. Cardenas pays a great deal of attention to construction and building as an expression of human behavior; since the 1980s he has used bricks as a metaphor for the anonymity of the human condition. Carlos Rodriguez Cardenas' work offers an unpretentious yet perceptive view of his environment, colored with a refined and mature sensibility. The Journey of the Conquest is a reflection of the artist's own journey through life and his fantasies translated to his canvases.
